Diaspora: A way towards integrated cultures

Diaspora

Diaspora can be defined as the scattering of population into a specific geographical area. In simpler words, people who are natives of a particular nation leave their original location and settle in other nations.

Earlier on Diaspora was something that happened due to forced migration, war, famines, and plagues. For instance, Jewish Diaspora happened due to a voluntary migration of Jews from Israel; one of the reasons was the religious conversion to Judaism.

However, it has a lead role in preserving culture as an integrated form in the world. Many historical incidents have caused various diasporic events, most of all were the worst consequences. Still, it has formed many different cultures geographically in each part and amalgamated it with the native culture.

This has both advantages and disadvantages. The people migrated to a place or country which performs a very different culture to theirs may reinforce Diasporas culture, resultantly it shatters the native culture of the land after merging with the traditions of its emigrants. This will lead to consider the customs and practice of the place least significant, which brings the minimum probability of discrimination and improvement in the togetherness of people.

The culture is an identity of place because it has shaped by a particular historical fact which has social, economic and political connections. Therefore, to create a merger between the native heritage and the foreign one caused by the Diaspora could only be possible by the proper deal from the rearrangement of social structure and laws. The reason for the emigration to the land also matters, like, the process of conquering.

For instance, the settlement of Anglo Saxon and Jutes (the three Germanic tribes) in Britain around the year 410, have changed the culture and language of Britain, gradually they formed Anglo Saxon kingdom over there. Britain today has emerged from various ancient features of old Britain around 410 A.D where their culture integrated with ancient Germanic tribes and formed the foundation of language, literature and arts. In other words, unity can be brought by considering no discrimination among individuals by their identity through the process of democracy.

The other merit of the Diaspora is, it opens the space of building up the knowledge on the area of certain cultures which has just encountered through interactions from social relation irrespective of uncertain ambience.

The combination of culture may lead to several challenges like discrimination from their new homeland, the emotional trauma of people after migration from their land due to terrible cause, observation from a historical event- the slavery of ordinary people under colonization which is the suppression of foreign norms to the particular country.

Conclusion

Diaspora has a preeminent role in shaping the culture by shaking its native structure evolved from the civilization of respective places.

It forms the conflicts from various kinds of beliefs or the unity among humans through the administration, which aims for the betterment of the country.
